Author of Success Sustained: The Case for Compassionate Capitalism
I'm President and CEO of Avatar Resources, Inc., a consulting firm I founded in 1987. The firm has affiliate offices in four countries. I've served clients in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Latin America and the United States. While living in Japan in the early 1980's, I managed the business and international consulting division of one of the largest and most successful Human Resource Development and Consulting organizations in Asia. I'm an Associate Professor at China's Beijing University, and am on the faculty of the American College of Physician Executives. In addition to my professional responsibilities, I'm an avid fly fisherman and a hopelessly optimistic golfer whose handicap is that I play the game.
Considered a major innovative voice in the areas of leadership development, organizational development, and change management, I've been a guest lecturer on Enterprise Leadership Development at China's prestigious Tsing Hua University, a featured speaker at numerous World Congresses of the Junior Chamber International, a featured speaker at the World Congress of Human Resource Management, and was a core panel member of the World Consortium for Research and Development of Training.
I currently sit on the Advisory Boards of the Tokyo based All Nippon Management Coaching Association and the Philadelphia based Global Coaching Alliance. I am certified as an executive, organizational and somatic coach and I've been a member of the International Coach Federation since its inception. I am also a member of the World Business Academy and the Transformational Leadership Council – a group of transformational CEOs, thought leaders and educators that was founded in 2005 by Jack Canfield.
My first book, Discover Your Inner Strength, was published in early 2010. It is an anthology collaboration with authors Stephen Covey, Ken Blanchard and Brian Tracy.
My second book, Three Dimensional Coaching: Passion into Performance, was published in 2014 and is being translated for publication in Japan and China in 2014.
I am currently working on a new book that has the working title Success Sustained: The Case for Compassionate Capitalism. It is tentatively slated to be published in late 2014.
During over three decades, I've consulted worldwide with companies, and governments, coached executives, and have delivered training programs to well over 250,000 individuals. The list of the clients with whom I've recently worked includes some of the largest organizations in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. These include: AstraZeneca, Starbucks, Wells Fargo, Healthways, Coldwater Creek, Memorial Health Care, IDEO, PricewaterhouseCoopers, United Systems Integrators (a Johnson Controls company), Huhtamaki (Finland), Japan Creative Education Institute, Petroleos de Venezuela, the World Bank, 20th Century Fox, and the Government of Zambia.
